We hope you can join us again for Waitangi Day 2021! Porirua City Council will once again partner with mana whenua Ngāti Toa to deliver a fun-filled event – one of the largest to take place in New Zealand on our national day.
The event will be alcohol-free, smoke/vape-free and there will be no dogs allowed.
“The food, the entertainment, families out enjoying themselves – it’s a day to enjoy with people and one where we can celebrate culture, heritage and history” – Porirua Mayor Anita Baker.
Live performances
Main Stage, 11am – 4pm
Ainslie Allen, Aotea College’s barbershop, The Voice Australia competitor Ella Monnery, world- renowned opera singer Ben Makisi, and headliner Sammy J.
Fun for tamariki
Te Rauparaha Area, 11am – 4pm
Bouncy castles, face painting, indoor chill-out zone, Lego exhibition to keep enthusiastic kids entertained inside Te Rauparaha Arena.
Waka tours
Te Awarua-o-Porirua Harbour , 11am – 4pm
You can pick up a paddle and get out onto our beautiful Te Awarua-o-Porirua Harbour. These trips will be offered by the Toa Waka Ama.

Large variety of stalls will be on site, providing locally crafted and New Zealand-made products and food.
Arena Aquatics poolside events
Te Rauparaha Area, 8.30am – 6.30pm
For a splashing good time, head to Porirua’s Arena Aquatics and join in the fun at Te Rauparaha Arena aquatics for a day by the pool.

Te Rauparaha Arena, 4.30pm – 6.30pm
Bring your friends and family to our pools for the Waitangi Day pool party. There will be a DJ, waves, volleyball, and prizes – gold coin entry.
