Amazing Good Friday Songs For Worship & Reflection

Alongside Easter and Lent music, finding selections of new Good Friday music is sometimes a tricky endeavour. So we’re really excited to share with you over 21 of our favourite new songs and albums for 2021, both for times of worship and times of reflection.

Do let us know if you have any other suggestions, or plan to use the music in any Good Friday services this year – we’d love to hear from you!

You can also listen to all of these songs on our 90-minute-long playlist on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and Pandora, which also includes a few extra songs for you to enjoy!

NEW FOR 2021 1. Salt Of The Sound – Lent, Vol. 2
Genre: Ambient Worship
We often receive feedback that our music is perfect for times of personal prayer of worship, and this new EP fits really well in the context of Lent and in particular Good Friday. We have included our ambient/worship-style songs ‘Awake My Soul’ (which is loosely based on Psalm 57) and ‘Constancy’, which is a reminder that our God is unwavering in and apart from the storm.

2. United Pursuit – Love (feat. Brock Human)
Genre: Alternative
This is one of those songs that carries its own healing power. Perfect for ambient, prayerful Good Friday worship service, Love by United Pursuit may not be the song that they are most well known for, but it is definitely one that is beginning to stand the test of time.

NEW FOR 2021 3. The Worship Initiative – The Love of God
Genre: Worship
This 2 track EP from The Worship Initiative and Bethany Barnard has arrived at just the right time for this Lenten season in 2021. We love the acoustic, gentle vibe that the song ‘The Love of God’ carries with it, which truly lends itself to times of personal worship and prayer.

4. Audrey Assad – Death Be Not Proud (EP)
Genre: Singer/Songwriter
A truly beautiful, reflective EP from Audrey Assad, which meditates on and explores many of the themes of Good Friday. Perfect for personal listening, and also for use in Good Friday services. Very highly recommended!

5. The Many – Forgive Us
Genre: Worship
We were excited when we heard about The Many, an ‘intentionally diverse music collective’ born out of Chicago. This beautiful track ‘Forgive Us’ helps us to centre ourselves during this Lent and Easter season, as we look to the cross for our hope, despite our own failings. From the richness of their harmonies to the rawness of the lead vocals – the whole track is crafted with a sense of simplicity that takes you straight to the heart of its message.

6. The Fray – Be Still
Genre: Alternative
This not so recent release from The Fray remains a perfect invitation for us to enter into, and dwell in the presence of God.
