Eid Ul Adha Qatar : On the occasion of Eid Al Adha, the Amiri Diwan announced the Eid holiday as follows:
For ministries, other government entities and public institutions, the holiday starts on: Thursday July 30, 2020 and ends on Thursday August 6, 2020. Employees are to resume work on Sunday August 9, 2020.
As for Qatar Central Bank (QCB), banks and financial institutions working under the supervision of QCB and Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA), HE the Governor of Qatar Central Bank shall specify the start and the end of the holiday.
Eid al-Adha is an Islamic festival to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim (also known as Abraham) to follow Allah’s (God’s) command to sacrifice his son. Muslims around the world observe this event.
Is Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) a Public Holiday?
Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) is a public holiday. It is a day off for the general population, and schools and most businesses are closed.
In 2020, it falls on a Friday, and some businesses may choose to follow Friday opening hours.
Qatar Central Bank (QCB) announced that the Eid Al Adha holiday for the current year for all financial institutions in the country (banks, currency exchanges, insurance companies, finance, investment, and financial consultants) will start from Thursday, July 30, 2020, and will end on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2020, provided that all financial institutions return to work before the public on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2020.
