DIWALI DIYA WREATH CRAFT

DIWALI DIYA WREATH CRAFT

YOU WILL NEED

Colourful scrapbooking papers (make sure they are easy to fold)

Cardboard

Acrylic Colours (or waterproof colours) – Yellow and Golden

String Lights

Craft supplies such as scissors, tape, glue and stapler

HOW TO GO ABOUT IT

1. Cut scrapbooking paper into strips. I am using strips which are 15 cm x 3.5 cm in size. If you are taking wider strips, go longer as well.

2. Starting with width, fold the strip like an accordion. The closer the folds, the better it will be.

Take another piece from the same scrapbook paper with length = a little more than half the width of your accordion strip, and width = almost twice the width of your accordion fold. Fold this piece in two lengthwise and keep it aside. We are going to use this strip to join the two ends of our accordion.

4. Fold this piece in two lengthwise and keep it aside. We are going to use this strip to join the two ends of our accordion.

5. Take a piece of tape and stick it to one top end of your accordion halfway like so. I am using a double sided tape here.

6. Bring the other top end closer to this end and tape both the ends together making a semi-circle.

7. Now bring back the scrapbook paper piece that we folded earlier and slide it over the tape that we placed. Secure the scrapbook paper piece with staples. This step might seem unnecessary but it definitely helps the accordion keep its shape better.

8. Now with an orange and a yellow paper, draw and cut a flame shape and glue or tape it over your semi-circular accordion.

9. One Diwali paper diya is ready and many more to go.
